Politics in advertising? That is a terrible idea...right?  Evidence is showing that nowadays that might not be the case. Countless times this strategy has backfired on companies. For example, Bud Light had massive backlash with their attempt at native american themed cans. But for companies that get it right such as Nike this is a very effective approach to advertising and can make a positive impact on society.
