It seems the days of avoiding politics are over as even our favorite brands are joining in. But is that such a bad thing? Large corporations can have a huge impact on many issues and can help propel society forward. Cheerios paved the way by breaking down racial and ethnic barriers. Now Nike is pushing for equality, justice and diversity. Another New York Times article titled Nike Nearly Dropped Colin Kaepernick Before Embracing Him article goes as far to claim Colin Kaepernick is a “civil rights entrepreneur unlike anyone before”. Even for those who do not necessarily agree with the politics everyone should respect companies who attempt to make a positive impact on society even if it means “sacrificing everything”.
